Two 18th century traditional stone houses, only recently (2016) lovingly converted into modern private pool villas, in a secluded area with much privacy

These two fully detached holiday villas lie on the hillside of the picturesque village of Achlades, affording magnificent views of the surrounding olive groves and vineyards. They are in a secluded area, approximately 25 km east of Rethymno town.

The villas offer an ideal destination-choice for a memorable, relaxing vacation in the Cretan countryside, just 6 km and 10 km away respectively from the lovely sandy beaches of Panormo and Bali.

The traditional residences of the mid 18th century have only recently been fully renovated in 2016. They are in complete harmony with the environment, thanks to the careful restoration which turned them in two luxurious, fully equipped villas, unique for long breaks on the beautiful island of Crete.

The local materials that were used for the remodelling of the villas include untreated stones, tiles of the interwar era, cypress trunks and handmade bricks and an old trough, adhering to the traditional architecture and respecting the residence’s history. The traditional elements and their authentic character were preserved and highlighted throughout the villas: some exquisite pieces of furniture carefully restored, wall arches, wooden floors and ceilings, creating unique ambient spaces of high aesthetics.

ERONDAS Cretan Country Villas are located in a secluded spot, 25 km eastward of Rethymno town and constitute an ideal destination-choice for a memorable, relaxing vacation in the Cretan countryside, just 6 km and 10 km away respectively from the lovely sandy beaches of Panormo and Bali. Erondas Villa II lies on the hillside of the picturesque village of Achlades, offering magnificent views of the surrounding olive groves and vineyards, along with the so coveted serenity and quietness everybody needs while on holiday. As you step out the villa you will find yourselves in a romantic courtyard, where the stone built BBQ facilities are at your disposal to prepare your meals and try al fresco dining under the shaded pergola.

At the rear part of the villa the 40 m2 private pool (90 cm to 150 cm deep) awaits you, a dreamy place, offering full privacy, which you will never want to leave.

Respecting the environment and guests, the pool is eco-friendly, using UV lamps for cleaning. The 150 m² pool terrace is lawn covered, filled with flowers and equipped with sun beds and umbrellas, so you can stay there all day long. Additionally, right below the pool level there is playground area with toys and soft sand, perfect for the kids to play. To make things even better, the verandas are equipped with patio furniture: Here you can enjoy your breakfast or your night’s drink and let the cool summer breeze take all your worries away.

The villa boasts a living space of 200 m² spread across two levels. It can accommodate up to eight guests in its four bedrooms. Two more guests can be accommodated on folding beds, making this villa big enough for large families or groups of friends.

The ground floor features an open plan living-/dining area with integrated, fully and modern equipped kitchen (dishwasher, Ceran cooktop, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, toaster and coffee machine). The living area has a 42’ smart TV and a Playstation 4 console, just what you need for a family game. Next to it one bedroom provides two single beds and an open fireplace. The family bathroom on the ground floor is equipped with a hydro-massage shower column.

Also on the ground floor, there is a 45 m² studio apartment, featuring a wonderful loft-type bedroom with a double bed (160 x 210 cm), a lovely sitting area with stone built benches and a small but well equipped kitchenette, TV, as well as an en-suite bathroom.

Climbing up the colourfully tiled paved stairs, you will find the remaining two bedrooms. One features a king size bed (160 x 200 cm) and the other one two single beds (90 x 200 cm each). Last but not least, there’s one more kitchenette and a shared bathroom on this floor. All bedrooms are air conditioned and all beds are beautifully dressed with top quality Coco Mat linens and covers and have Coco Mat mattresses, promising a blissful uninterrupted night's sleep, as well as your outmost comfort. All bathrooms have hydro-massage columns and quality bath and pool towels, bathrobes and slippers are provided, along with high quality natural Korres bathroom amenities.

The holiday villa is close to worth-visiting sites of historical significance, such as: Ancient Eleftherna (vast archaeological site and brand new museum), Melidoni Cave and Arkadi Monastery, among others.

    “Unsere Gastgeber waren äußerst herzlich, hilfsbereit und überaus gastfreundlich. Bereits bei der Ankunft wurden wir mit leckeren Köstlichkeiten und selbst hergestellten Leckereien aus der Region überrascht. Das ganze Haus wurde uns detailliert erklärt, inklusive der interessanten Geschichte hinter jedem Detail. Sowieso ist die Villa mit viel Herz, Esprit und Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Martha und ihre Söhne haben alles dafür getan, uns den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Es gibt sogar einen kleinen Gemüsegarten, aus dem wir Gurken und Tomaten selbst ernten konnten. Die Lage ist traumhaft und die Aussicht beim Frühstück oder Abendessen sensationell. Meist geht auch ein leichter Wind und macht den Aufenthalt auf der Terrasse sehr angenehm. Zur besseren Mobilität sollte man jedoch über ein Mietauto verfügen - bis zum nächsten Ort sind es nur 5 Minuten und bis zum Strand nur 10 Minuten. Wir waren mit der ganzen Familie da, 4 Erwachsene, 1 Jugendlicher und 1 Kind - durch die geräumige Aufteilung hatten wir ausreichend Platz. Wir kommen gerne wieder!”

    “Wir waren mit unseren beiden Söhnen (5 und 3) und den Großeltern (insgesamt 8 Personen) für 10 Tage in der Villa. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und fühlten uns von Anfang an sehr wohl.
    Die Ausstattung der Villa erfüllt die höchsten Standards (Spülmanschine, Kaffeemaschine, Fernseher in jedem Schlafzimmer, PS 4, Stereoanlage, Grill, Sandkasten und natürlich den Pool uvm.).
    Lage: Die Villa liegt zwischen Heraklion (ca. 65 Km) und Rethymno (ca. 25 Km). Man genießt die Ruhe und die wunderschlönen Sonnenuntergänge. Ein Mietwagen ist zwar ein Muss, aber wenn man das wahre Kreta erleben möchte, sind die schönsten Strände und Sehenswürdigkeiten mit Halbtagesausfügen sehr gut erreichbar. Man hat sofort das Gefühl in Kreta zu sein und nicht in einer überladenen Hotelanlage.
    Zustand und Sauberkeiit: Die Villa ist neu und in perfektem und makellos sauberem Zustand. Die Elemente der Ruine aus dem späten 19. Jahrhundert sind kunstvoll eingebaut und die Details im Bau sind sehr beeindruckend.
    Preisleistungsverhältnis: Auf jeden Fall weiterzuempfehlen. Es war schon unser dritter Kreta-Besuch, aber noch nie hatten wir das Gefühl richtig auf der Insel angekommen zu sein wie dieses Mal. Die Villa vermittelt einem Tradition und Luxus und man kehrt nach 10 Tagen total entspannt nach Hause.”
